Call To Die

Then [Jesus] said to them all, "If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me will save it. (Luke 9:23-24, HCSB)

Micah - "WWJD"

I got a friend named Susie;
she wears a bracelet on her wrist,
and if you ask her what it means, she'll say,
"Oh, are you talkin' 'bout this?
Well, I don't know what it really means,
but I wear it to be cool.
Everybody's got one:
the whole entire school!"

WWJD: what does it mean to you?
I know what it means to me;
what does it mean to you?

I see you standing in the corner,
your head down in shame.
Why don't you tell what it really means,
and proclaim Jesus' name?

WWJD: what does it mean to you?
I know what it means to me;
what does it mean to you?

Micah - "Be Not Afraid"

Sometimes,
I'm afraid of it all.
I'm afraid I might fall into the shadows.
I'm afraid.
I'm afraid to stand up.
I'm afraid to be alone.
I've had enough.

While I walk through the storms, I will not fear.
As the wind whips around me, I will not fear.
Because Your love gives me peace,
and Your love still surrounds me.
And I know You'll never leave me here.

When the waves start to rise,
and all I see is my world sinking,
it's always the first step I take outside
that's the hardest one to take.

While I walk through the storms, I will not fear.
As the wind whips around me, I will not fear.
Because Your love gives me peace,
and Your love still surrounds me.
And I know You'll never leave me here.

'Cause I'm not afraid.
Be not afraid.

While I walk through the storms, I will not fear.
As the wind whips around me, I will not fear.
Because Your love gives me peace,
and Your love still surrounds me.
And I know You'll never leave me here.

Micah - "To My Friends"

Every once in a while
things in my head begin to stir.
My memories awaken, and one falls,
and finds its way into my heart again.

There's this one of my friends,
wrapped completely into one,
years of their lives visible to no one.
I had a hand to give,
but instead I held it in.

I have chosen to go another way.
Maybe we will meet again some day.
I hope that all is well,
'cause there's so much that I want to say
to you.

So quickly forgotten, yet so long learned.
But a place in my heart, they all have earned.
Off the old road, we each have turned.
And to my friends,
I wish the best to you.

I have chosen to go another way.
Maybe we will meet again some day.
I hope that all is well,
'cause there's so much that I want to say...

To my friends who are hurting,
to my friends still around,
if I could make a wish for each of you,
I would:

  • a home for Mike
  • and peace for Gordon
  • a girl for Leo
  • and friends for Ryan
  • a father for Josh
  • and Pez for Tim
  • parents for Fernando, and for those just like him.

And for those just like him:

I think Jesus is a better friend
than anyone could have ever been,
'cause people let you down,
and I have let you down.

I have let you down.

Micah - "Lee"

I've felt the snow on my skin,
and I have watched it melt away.
I've seen thousands pass me by
every single day.

I've seen children turn their eyes
and their mothers look away.
I've had birds rest on my shoulder
and been caught out in the rain.

And now that we see eye-to-eye,
though I've never seen Your face:
I went searching for an answer,
but I found my Life instead.

I have raced for an escape:
worthwhile tries to get away.
I find no solace in my bottle
and none on this barren ground.

And now that we see eye-to-eye,
though I've never seen Your face:
I went searching for an answer,
but I found my Life instead.

And now that we see eye-to-eye,
though I've never seen Your face:
I went searching for an answer,
but I found my Life instead.

Micah - "Jennie's Song"

Your eyes are like
stormy clouds
that bring the rain
that eases my doubts.

Your eyes are like
stormy clouds
that bring the rain
that eases my doubts:
a blue so rich
they radiate,
a beauty beaten only
by God's own face;
They pull me in,
make it hard to leave,
but more than that,
they make me believe.

This is right,
and I love you
more than the colors in your eyes.
We're in God's hands,
and no one can deny.

This is right,
and I love you
more than the colors in your eyes.
We're in God's hands,
and no one can deny.

They pull me in,
make it hard to leave,
but more than that,
they make me believe.

This is right,
and I love you
more than the colors in your eyes.
We're in God's hands,
and no one can deny.

This is right,
and I love you
more than the colors in your eyes.
We're in God's hands,
and no one can deny.

Your eyes are like...

Micah - "A Moment"

We are standing on the edge of eternity.
At the door, can you hear Him knocking? Let Him in.
Let Him in.
He's got a bigger plan for you and me,
'cause we are standing on the edge.
We're standing on the edge.

Then one day there'll be a moment
when all we've said and all we've done is told.
Did I decide to stand by Your side,
or did I turn and run away?

What would you do if you stood in my shoes?
Would you falter like I did?
Lord, I know I didn't act like You,
but oh how I wish I did.

Then one day there'll be a moment
when all we've said and all we've done is told.
Did I decide to stand by Your side,
or did I turn and run away?

Then one day there'll be a moment
when all must decide.
Did we choose to live by faith
or something else that we try to hide?

Micah - "Digging Deeper"

Do you think
that God has feet
and wonder why
Jesus is white
in all the pictures?
That's all the stupid stuff
that keeps us
from doing our jobs!

We've got issues.
Why don't we dig a little deeper?
What really matters is evident.
We've got things to do:
more than just questions and pay rent.
Why don't we dig a little deeper?
Why don't we dig a little deeper now?!

Do you think
God could make
a rock so big
He could not pick it up?
Don't test God, please,
'cause I don't want to be
struck
by lightning!

We've got issues.
Why don't we dig a little deeper?
What really matters is evident.
We've got things to do:
more than just questions and pay rent.
Why don't we dig a little deeper?
Why don't we dig a little deeper now?!

Micah - "A Song for Chris"

'Cause it's something about
the winter
that makes me deeper,
and it's something to the cold
that makes me wonder.
I feel my soul begin to call to you.
I swear the mountains know you by name.

That last breath of peace:
I can hear you singing in the bottom of my heart.

As rain falls on your grave,
I stand crying.
Wilted flowers in a vase
And pictures I can't seem to throw away.

That last breath of peace:
I can hear you singing in the bottom of my heart.

As rain falls on this window,
as I write this letter to you,
I'm not sad, just remembering
what was and what could have been.
Knowing why this happened: no one could explain,
yet we all tredge forward
to that place where there's no more pain.

That last breath of peace:
I can hear you singing in the bottom of my heart.

That last breath of peace:
I can hear you singing in the bottom of my heart.

Micah - "The Old Man Said"

Thinking back to what the old man said:
words of wisdom racing through my head.
I can't know everything until I'm dead.
Well, who in this world's so smart?

When all the days have all gone by:
the pain, the tears we hold inside;
no need to worry, just cry.
Well, who in this world's so strong?

Carry on like the dogwood does in snow:
like the river of life, never ceasing to flow.
But life builds a dam,
just show a smile, child, and hold my hand.

Thinking back to what the old man said:
so simple, but so true.
This song rings out to everyone.
But this one's just for you.

The old man said...
