Mike Huckabee responds to evolution question
Now, I think the case can (and should) be made that the "six days" in Genesis were (at least roughly) 24-hour periods of time, but we must admit that godly, Bible-believing Christians have often left the possibility open that the "days" in Genesis 1 may refer to 'ages.' Even James P. Boyce, founder of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, offered arguments on behalf of the 'day-age' theory [see James P. Boyce, Abstract of Systematic Theology, Cape Coral, FL: Founders Press, 2006. 171-172].
All this to say- I think that Huckabee's answer was, overall, an excellent response from a Christian perspective.

Ajlin,
Yes this is a good answer from a prospective president. From a scientific perspective one cannot 100% determine that the days in Genesis mean 24 hour days or that they represent ages/stages of creation.
The problem with theistic evolution though is that it places millions of years (ages) of death and decay before sin. Thus removing death as a consequence of sin. And if death is not the wages of sin, then it follows that to gain eternal life we would not need the gift of God.
His answer was eloquent and strong, but still lacking in true conviction. he was honest but still fence sitting a little.
