Call To Die

Then [Jesus] said to them all, "If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me will save it. (Luke 9:23-24, HCSB)

Questioned by the Crowd

So they said to him, "How were your eyes opened?" (John 9:10 ESV)

In this verse, the formerly blind man is questioned by the crowd. Note their surprise. Note also the correct assumption: that some outside Power must have been at work in order for the blind man to gain his sight, The blind man's eyes were not healed spontaneously. As in this physical miracle, so in the conversion of our souls. It is an astonishing work when God takes either malfunctioning organs or a lifeless soul and brings renewal or resurrection. Eyes were made for seeing, and our souls were made for worship. God grants ability to inability.
