Call To Die

Then [Jesus] said to them all, "If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me will save it. (Luke 9:23-24, HCSB)

Exclusive Hymnody

Some of my Reformed friends on Facebook believe that the New Testament requires that only psalms be sung in gathered church worship. I disagree with this position, and basically take the view expressed by Benjamin Keach and by the position paper on the regulative principle by the Association of Reformed Baptist Churches in America (ARBCA). However, while we should not ONLY sing psalms in worship, many Baptist churches (and others) have gone so far as NEVER (or hardly ever) singing any psalms in worship. A failure to sing psalms in our worship services is clearly contrary to biblical commands and examples. (See: Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16.) We should sing hymns and spiritual songs in our gathered worship; we should certainly also sing from the Spirit-inspired Psalms.

Cool good point. I'll try and implement some psalm singing in our congregation.
Thanks.
