Call To Die

Then [Jesus] said to them all, "If anyone wants to come with Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of Me will save it. (Luke 9:23-24, HCSB)

"God listens to him."

"We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, God listens to him. (John 9:31 ESV) 

Is it true that God does not listen to sinners? God does not favorably hear unrepentant sinners who are in rebellion against divine authority. If, like the sinful tax collector, someone cries out, "God, have mercy on me a sinner" (Luke 18:13), then God will certainly hear that prayer, Repentant sinners–those who, out of a regenerated heart, want to worship God and do God's will–are heard by God because they are spiritually united to Christ, who always did the will of His Father (John 8:29).
